Alex Roman at it again AKA The Best CGI You Have Ever Seen

I had to post this as soon as I saw it.

You may remember a few posts earlier this year about Alex Roman, the unreal CG artist that blew everyone away with the Third and the Seventh. This is a commercial Roman did recently.

If this does not make you feel at least a little bad about your rendering skills or a lot inspired to create something beautiful then you are not watching close enough.

Nuit Blanche

Here is another amazing CG short that absolutely floors me every time I see it.  Nuit Blanche, French of "all nighter", is a film directed by Arev Manoukian, produced by Spy Films.  Spy Films has been behind some other amazing digital works, perhaps most famously for the work on the movie District 9.


Nuit Blanche "explores a fleeting moment between two strangers".  The rest speaks for itself. enjoy.

Grzegorz Jonkajtys: Ark

Grzegorz Jonkarjty's 'Ark'

The 'Ark' is nothing short of a breathtaking, multimedia explosion of excellence oozing with rich details. The opening shots of the film are a matte painting, the last shot was entirely 3D, and the remainder of the film was primarily CG combined with miniatures. He filmed the miniatures with a Nikon D70 with a motion control rig and used CG with stop motion to produce his final, stylized effect. I couldn't believe that this took him two and a half years to make despite the fact that he was working on other high profile movies (Sin City, Pan's Labyrinth)
